Population Burden

　　many countries will experience aging populations in the next century because of declining birth and mortality rates. china will soon join their ranks.

　　as for the issue of aging, its situation has been growing increasingly severe in spite of the fact most people are still ignorant of the problems it brings about. firstly, with families becoming smaller and living pace escalating, it is even graver for families to care for aged members adequately. secondly, aging causes a relative decline in working force in that fewer people have to support the increasing aged people. consequently, the productivity of the whole society is affected to some extent. thirdly and most importantly, the aging of population in china resulted from the successful implementation of family planning has not been synchronized with national economic progress.

　　the rapidity of the populations aging has made it more urgent for the adoption of countermeasures. no doubt they key is to build a solid economic foundation. meanwhile, importance shall be attached to overall social progress by changing the backward situation in social security, welfare and service. whats more, family care and community services shall also be encouraged.

Population expansion

　　population expansion is one of the most serious problems in the world. with better hygienic conditions and better medical care, fewer babies die today. but the birth rate remains unchanged. moreover, the death rate has been lowered considerably by various kinds of progress. people generally live longer than they used to. all these contribute to a series of problem: shortage of national resources and food supply crowded cities and high rate of unemployment.

　　to solve all these problems, we must take measures to control birth rate. the first important step is to educate people-to help them understand the advantages of small families. another important measure is to raise peoples living standards. when people full understand the consequences of population expansion, and when their standard of living is raised, the birth rate will decline without compulsion.

　　though it is a difficult task, we should try in a thousand and one ways to carry out birth control if we fail to do so, the world will be too crowded to live in, and the natural resources will be used up. then we will no longer survive on earth.

Population to Be Curbed

　　nothing in todays world is as big a problem as that of population. people begin to worry about the support capacity of the earth. and there might be only standing room for each person in the future.

　　limas population was 5. 7 million in 1985 but it grew to 9. 1 million in xx. tianjins was 7.9 million in 1985. in xx, it boosted to 9. 7 million. such cities as london, osaka, moscow, beijing, karachi, delhi, jakarta, seoul, and teheran are having a similar population growth. calcutta, shanghai, new york, and sto paulo see a faster population explosion. tokyo had 18.8 million in 1985. in xx it turned into 20.2 million. mexico city had 17.3 million people in 1985, but in xx, its population reached 25.8 million!

　　what does the population growth mean? it means greater and greater consumption and greater pressure for the earth. if more people are added to the world population without our being alert or taking any action, we would have only standing room by the end of the 21st century.

　　each government and the un should see that population of each country and each city stops growing for the next fifty years.
